Bengaluru, Mar 05, 2025: The Director, UIDAI, Mr. SMD Jeelani inaugurated SISA’s state-of-the-art Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CoE) Lab of SISA at Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), marking a major milestone in advancing cybersecurity education and workforce development. This initiative builds on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier, reinforcing the commitment to equipping students with industry-relevant skills.
Mr. SMD Jeelani, during the inauguration, emphasized the urgency and significance of this initiative, “With India emerging as the second most targeted nation for cyberattacks, the need for robust cybersecurity infrastructure has never been greater. This SISA’s Cybersecurity Center of Excellence is a step in the right direction—a critical step in shaping a new generation of cyber leaders who can play a key role and offer out-of-the-box thinking and expertise to protect our digital ecosystem and contribute to national security, said Mr. Jeelani.
The state-of-the-art Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity will provide hands-on training to the students of DSU by offering real-world exposure to the latest cybersecurity challenges, regulatory updates, and evolving threat landscapes. Students will gain practical experience in addressing cybersecurity threats and insights into the latest global security frameworks and compliance requirements, ensuring they are industry-ready.
Dharshan Shanthamurthy, CEO, SISA, shared his vision, stating, “At SISA, we believe that cybersecurity excellence begins with talent development. By establishing this CoE in partnership with DSU, we are not only addressing the immediate skill gap but also nurturing the next generation of cybersecurity innovators. This center will serve as a hub for collaboration, where students can co-create new frameworks, develop solutions for emerging threats, and gain hands-on exposure to industry-grade cybersecurity tools. We believe the impact of this initiative will extend far beyond the classroom, driving innovation and strengthening the global cybersecurity landscape.”
Beyond classroom learning, the CoE will also play a key role in refining DSU’s cybersecurity curriculum to ensure students are prepared for the dynamic nature of cyber threats. The initiative underscores the importance of blending theoretical knowledge with practical application to develop professionals who can proactively tackle emerging cybersecurity challenges.
The CoE will also serve as a platform to give an industry support to Central Government’s Internship program announced during the Union Budget 2025 and will also play a crucial role in achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047, said, Dharshan Shanthamurthy.
