SISA and Dayananda Sagar University Sign MoU to Establish Centre of Excellence in Cybersecurity

31st July 2024, Bengaluru, India – Dayananda Sagar University (DSU) and SISA Information Security Pvt Ltd sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration on skill development and transformation in the field of cybersecurity. This Industry-Institute collaboration aims to set up a Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity, marking a significant step towards advancing cybersecurity education and training.

Dharshan Shanthamurthy, CEO of SISA said on this collaboration, “We are excited to partner with Dayananda Sagar University to establish the Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity. This collaboration is a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. By combining our expertise and resources, we aim to provide students with hands-on experience and cutting-edge knowledge that will prepare them for the challenges of the industry. We look forward to contributing to the development of a robust cybersecurity ecosystem in India.”

As part of this collaboration, representatives from the Departments of Computer Science Engineering Cluster (CSE, CST, CSE (Cyber Security), CSE (AIML), CSE (DS)) at the School of Engineering, DSU, visited SISA to formalize the partnership. The Center of Excellence in Cybersecurity will initially accommodate 10 seats, with the potential to expand by an additional 5 seats, exclusively for DSU students. Interns at the center will receive a stipend and a bonus upon successful completion of their projects, with the possibility of securing permanent roles at SISA based on their performance.

While speaking to media the Uday Kumar Reddy, Dean School of Engineering, Dayanand Sagar University called this collaboration between academia and industry highly beneficial for students, he also urged for need of more such collaborations between industry and academia.

This MoU aligns with the recent Union Budget 2024-25 announcement, which introduced a new scheme for internships for 10 million youth as part of the Prime Minister’s vision on employment and skilling. This partnership to establish a Cybersecurity Center of Excellence is aimed at training onboarded candidates in best management practices and international standards, making them job-ready for the industry. SISA employees will play a pivotal role in the Center, contributing to skill development and providing support by refining DSU’s cybersecurity curriculum to meet future industry demands. Advisors from SISA may also be listed on the University’s advisory board, further strengthening the academic-industry link.

While addressing media CEO SISA, Dharshan Shanthamurthy also mentioned the much-required push given by Government to the skill based Internship during the recent Union Budget. He also said this initiative will also play a crucial role in achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Additionally, SISA will conduct special training sessions in-person or remotely, for the broader cybersecurity student community at DSU, limited to 60 hours per year. Further, as part of the agreement, DSU has been granted permission to utilize SISA’s proprietary Purple Range Platform for training its students and incorporating it into the curriculum. The platform will be hosted on a dedicated Virtual Private Cloud belonging to DSU, ensuring a secure and efficient training environment.

The MoU was signed by Vice Chancellor Dayanand Sagar University Dr. Amit Bhatt and Founder and CEO SISA, Mr. Dharshan Shanthamurthy.
